André Matias is an Angolan Olympic rower and a multiple medalist at international rowing championships. He competed in the lightweight double sculls event at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. In the United States, he represented the New York Athletic Club. Together with David Cox, he is the co-author of Forgotten Sport: How Angolan Rowing Vanished and Rose Again (forthcoming 2019). André is a graduate of Hamilton College and Georgetown University Law Center. He currently lives in Washington D.C. where he practices law.
